Rashtreeya Vidyalaya College of Engineering (RVCE) is a private educational college located in Bangalore, Karnataka, India established in 1963 and is ranked among the best in the country. RVCE has a vast, lush green, pollution free campus that sprawls a 53 acres on the Mysore road, 13 km from the city centre. It has 13 departments in engineering which offer undergraduate and postgraduate programs in a vast variety of technical areas. All its departments are affiliated to and are granted the autonomous status by the Vishweshvarya Technological University, Belagavi. Department of Mechanical engineering of RVCE is the Nation's first degree programme in a private institution to be accredited by the National Board of Accreditation. The students of RVCE operate many student projects, most notable being the ones supported by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) with events held the world over and are among the very best in their fields.
We, Team Helios Racing, are a group of dedicated and passionate students, of R.V. College of Engineering, Bangalore. We design and fabricate All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) to compete at the annual Baja SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) Events in India and abroad. The team consists of students from all four years of engineering from various departments which are Mechanical, Instrumentation, Chemical and Electronics Engineering.The team builds one prototype every year. We manufacture parts on our own as much as possible, and take help from industries where it is absolutely necessary. The senior students transfer their knowledge and experience to the juniors so that there is consistent improvement over the years.
There is an application of the theoretical knowledge learnt in the class rooms to tackle real life obstacles which come in the course of building our car. This gives us the basic level of understanding of what goes into building a vehicle in an automobile company.
